Allergens & Cross-Contamination

How to check allergen information and what shared handling means.

Last reviewed 1 October 2026

The short version

Always check the current product information before ordering and the delivered label before eating.

Prepared, marinated, coated, seasoned or processed foods can contain allergens even when plain meat does not.

Shared handling or preparation areas can create cross-contact risk.

Before you order

Allergen information must be available before a food purchase is completed where the law requires it. For products with ingredients, the customer must be able to identify declared allergens from the product information provided for that item.

If a prepared or frozen product does not yet show the allergen information you need, do not rely on assumptions from the product name or photograph. Use Help & Contact before ordering that product.

At delivery

Check the delivered ingredient and allergen label again before eating or serving the product, because recipes, suppliers and formulations can change. The delivered label takes priority over older screenshots, saved baskets or remembered information.

Cross-contamination / cross-contact

Products can be cut, packed or prepared in environments where other foods or ingredients are handled. Where a specific cross-contact risk is known for a product or facility, it should be communicated in the product or label information.

If you have a severe food allergy, contact us before ordering if you need more information about ingredients, preparation or shared equipment. No website statement can guarantee an allergen-free environment unless that guarantee is specifically made for the product and process concerned.
